What are Music Charts?Music Charts contains data of recorded information like music and albums that are assessed to certain criterias during a given time of period.Music Charts data can be split into 'Digitals' and 'Physicals' onto certain charts.

PHYSICAL CHARTS

What is Gaon Circle Chart & Hanteo Chart?Gaon Circle Chart shortened as Circle Chart is the biggest ranking chart system in South Korea managed by KMCA (Korea Music Content Association). Circle Chart reports and compiles data on physical album sales, digital downloads, and streams from different streaming platforms.Hanteo Chart is another big ranking chart system in South Korea managed by the Hanteo Information System. It reports and compiles real-time sales of individual albums.
What's the difference between Gaon Circle Chart & Hanteo Chart?Hanteo Chart exclusively only reports on real-time physical sales, while Gaon Circle Chart reports both physical and digitals. Hanteo also records every individual album sale from affliated stores, while Gaon records the stocks of albums a retailer bought.(ex. 100k albums are shipped but 50k sold. Gaon will report 100k while Hanteo reports 50k).
While both charts are important, Gaon Circle Chart is generally considered more important and consistent as more end of the year award shows base their criteria on Circle Chart.
DIGITAL CHARTS

What is Melon? Bugs? FLO? Genie? Vibe?All of the listed above are South Korea's streaming platforms, and also acts as a digital chart. However this will mainly focus on Instiz's criteria and streaming platforms on achieving a 'PAK'.The factors these charts report on are digital downloads, streams and some physical sales. These are important for the charts as it determines eligibility at music shows and award shows.

MELON

What is Melon?Melon is a Korean music streaming platform owned by Kakao M. It is the largest user-based music platform in South Korea and known to be the hardest to chart on. It reflects real-time charts, daily charts, weekly charts. It is also known for its unique listener system.INSTIZ only reflects real-time (TOP 100 excl. 24-HOUR) and daily (TOP 100).Counts towards all music shows.On June 2023, Billboard announced that Melon will count towards Billboard SK, Billboard Global 200, and Billboard Global 200 Excl. FLO

What is FLO?FLO is a Korean music streaming platform owned by SK Telecom. It is one of the other hardest service to chart on as well, behind Melon. It reflects the real-time charts and weekly charts.INSTIZ only reflects real-time (24 HOUR).Counts towards all music shows.On May 2023, Billboard announced that FLO will count towards Billboard SK, Billboard Global 200 and Billboard Global 200 Excl. GENIE

What is Genie?Genie is a Korean music streaming platform owned by KT Corporation. It is considered to the middle-ground of the K-Charts. It is not the hardest but also not the easiest to chart on as it went through several reforms to prevent mass streaming. It reflects real-time charts, daily charts, a weekly chart and a unique listener system.INSTIZ only reflects real-time (TOP 100) and daily (TOP 100).Counts towards all music shows.
BUGS!

What is Bugs?Bugs! is a Korean music streaming platform by NHN Entertainment Corporation. It is one of the easiest music platforms to chart on, and for international fans to sign up. it reflects real-time charts, daily charts and weekly charts.INSTIZ only reflects real-time (TOP 100) and daily (TOP 100).Counts towards all music shows.
VIBE

What is Bugs?VIBE is a Korean music streaming platform by Naver Corporation. The main criteria is the weekly charts based on its daily chart. It counts based on unique listeners and does not list specific numbers.INSTIZ only reflects the weekly chart (Today TOP 100, resets every Sunday).Counts towards: Music Bank, Music Core, The Show and MCountdown.
YOUTUBE MUSIC

What is YouTube Music?YouTube Music is a global music streaming platform by Google. It has a dedicated chart to South Korea and calculates based on YouTube views and Melon. It reflects daily songs and weekly songs.INSTIZ only reflects the weekly chart (WEEKLY TOP SONGS - South Korea, resets every Sunday).Counts towards: MCountdown.

It is also a way to show that a group is performing well on streaming platforms, charts and general public.

Music Shows

Music Shows are music programs hosted by major South Korea broadcasting companies. There are currently 6 music shows that are broadcasted weekly except Monday's.Many artists attend music shows as a way to promote their music and gain publicity. Music Show 'Wins' essentially boosts this sentiment.

Award Shows are split into two subcategories:1. Asian Year-End Award Shows
2. Western Award ShowsThese are shows that have voting as well.
Asian Year-End Award Shows

The Asian Year-End Award Shows includes K-POP award shows such as MAMA, MMA, SBS Gayo Daejeon etc. and other Asian shows such as Japan's NHK Kouhaku. These are usually held from November to January.
Western Award Shows

The Western Award Shows includes award shows such as MTV VMA's, MTV EMA's, Billboard Music Awards, Grammy etc. and so on. These are held anytime of the year.
Miscellaneous

Miscellaneous involves apps like Choaedol, FanPlus, Idolchamp, DuckAd etc. Instead of music show wins or prestigious awards, the rewards that are earned are usually electronic billboards, birthday advertisements, and computer streams.
